Animation

Animation as an art medium is one that I enjoy the most. Growing up I was always fascinated by how movies and shows were able to draw me in with the stories and full worlds that they created. The care and detail that the artist took to ensure that the end result was something everyone could be proud of. I want to have this same pride in my own animations be it big or small, but able to create a world where people can get lost in.

On this page, you can find out more about my work, my passions and my creative journey. I invite you to explore, get to know me better and follow along on my creative journey. Like Chuck Jones once said: "Animation isn't the illusion of life; it is life."

As one of my first animatics, there was a steep learning curve to how I approached this challenge. As I worked, I enjoyed the process of learning through experimentation. My favorite part, however was when I was in the editing stage, combing the audio to the visuals. Seeing all my hard work and effort come together in perfect harmony was truly one of the highlights of this project.

Wizard at Work - Classical Animation

Having not had much experience with classical animation, this was a personal ambitions project. Being able to coordinate three independent movements took a lot of planning and preparation to make them all combine seamlessly.

The result of my hard work and patience is something that I am not only proud of but an incredible learning experience. From this I know how to make my next frame-by-frame project go easier while still being able to push myself even farther.

Having learned a lot from my first attempt, I approached this project with confidence and ambition. Having an understanding of the basics made me want to challenge myself even more by adding dialogue and more accurate timing.

Adding another level of difficulty, I wanted to focus more on the movements and timing, restricting myself with the art style and forcing myself to work harder at making this all a clean and easy-to-understand piece of art.

Battle Field Ending

This is an idea for an imagined show featuring the four horsemen of the apocalypse. I had two main goals when working on this project.

1. Distinct Characters

2. Clever Transitions

It was definitely more technically challenging to achieve these goals than I had expected in my planning stage. Every step of the way, I learned something new, and it was through that trial and error that I was able to achieve this end result with satisfaction.

While I have done lyric-type videos before, I wanted to challenge myself in new ways with this project. As such, I picked an audio that had not only multiple voices but people taking over each. Challenging myself to make the distinction between the characters while embracing the controlled chaos of the song. The more I worked, the more I learned about this specific type of video and the tips and tricks to make my future projects go even smoother.

Eye of the Storm Opening

My final project for school had its origins in an early project. While I was limited on how long my final video could be, I knew I wanted to push my creativity to the limit. Even with the limited time, I wanted to allude to the grand story that I had developed in my planning stage. Learning which parts to cut, which to adjust, what to highlight so on and so forth. This was definitely my most ambitious project and the most technically difficult, but the end result is one of my favourite creations while I was studying.
